Hi everyone!  Welcome to this week's Mod Squad Challenge!!

One of my favorite parts of Christmas is the music.  I start listening to it as SOON as my family will let me, and I sing "Deck the Halls" for the whole year! :)  So our challenge for this week is to use music on your card.  You can use a musical stamp like I did, or use a piece of sheet music as background paper, or stamp a sentiment that is part of a Christmas song, or even just make a card inspired by a Christmas carol, as long as you tell me which one!

For my card I used lots of pieces from the current Winter Cheer Stamp TV Kit, along with some Red Hot, Pine and Charcoal Brown Ink.

-Please create a new card/project for each challenge.

-You may use any vendors/products.

-The host/hostess will choose 3 winners.

-All 3 cards will be pinned to our Mod Squad Challenge Blog Pinterest Board (follow the link on the right column) and when there is a craft prize the host/hostess will choose one from among those 3 winning cards. The winners will be announced in a separate post that will go up on Tuesdays before the next challenge post goes up.

-Our challenges may be combined with up to 4 other challenges, so to be eligible for any prizes and Pinning you can have a total of 5 challenges you've entered. We rely on the honor system so please be honest.

I can't see what you'll create!

I used this months StampTV kit and added purple twine.
I colored the image with spectrum noir markers.

Prize:
A GinaK prize pack with some extra goodies added.

-Please create a new card/project for each challenge.

-You may use any vendors/products.

Grandma's Attic.....So Grab A Doily!

Good Morning Crafters!  Donna Phelan here, excited to be hosting the new Mod Squad Challenge!  For today's Challenge I want you to incorporate a Doily into your card or project.  It can be in a subtle way, which I have chosen, or in a big bold way, your choice!  Just make sure we can see at least a peek!

My first card only measures 4.25 x 4.25 inches.

I used the Gina K Designs stamp set, All Occasion Tags, an oldie but a goodie!  The card stock is Pure Luxury Wild Orchid, by GKD and the Designer Paper is Dots And Stripes, by American Crafts.  The Doily I used is bright and white and really stands out.  Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Spellbinders die, EK Success Butterfly Trio Punch (top layer punched out on Vellum) and a few Adhesive Rhinestones complete this card.

My second card is a little bit more elaborate.

This card uses the Gina K Designs stamp set Mistletoe Memories, just perfect for the Holiday Season!  Card stock is GKD Pure Luxury Asparagus and Passionate Pink

I've added lots of little accents, Adhesive Pearls, Flamingo Liquid Pearls, Chipboard Button, Button, Twine, Corner Punch, Doily, Swiss Dots Embossing Folder, Pink and White Gingham Ribbon, Sizzix Die, Branch With Leaves, and Chunky White Glitter for snow.

So climb up to your Nana's attic or open up that wonderful crafty accent drawer and pull out a Doily!

.

Since this is the first week of the month....the FABULOUS prize is an awesome $50 gift certificate to Gina K. Designs!!!!!

Well, this is so hard!!!! I can honestly say that I loved every single one of the cards you guys showed me this week. Guess it's because if it's your favorite, you can't go wrong. It's so hard to chose, but chose I must, so here are some of MY favorites. I couldn't pick just 3, so here are 4 that I really liked:

First up is Donna's beautiful card. She is the Queen of Layering, and she has outdone herself here. I love all the patterns and texture, and her tree is just so festive!

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Hey Fun Seekers~
Judy Woodland here, and I'm so happy to be hosting this week here at the Mod Squad Challenge. Thanks, Lee, for inviting me! It's an honor!!

I really debated about what to have you all do for this week's challenge, there are so many possibilities. So I decided to give you free rein to do whatever you want!!! The only thing I ask is that you create your most very favorite kind of card. That's all....the rest is up to you. Show me what you like to do best.

One of my all-time favorite things is a watercolor background. I love the way watercolor is so unique, every card is different. I have just received some new-to-me watercolors called Brusho Crystal Colors. They are watercolors, but in a tiny crystal form. When you sprinkle the crystals on water saturated paper, they burst into the most AMAZING patterns. I am sharing a link to a YouTube video that shows some of what this product can do.

Here's the card I made with them:
Now mind you, I haven't had these very long, so I'm kind of a novice. But it's so much fun to see the colors bloom. I used GKD Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Blue Raspberry card stock, along with white watercolor paper. The snowflakes were stamped with GKD Snowflake and Let It Snow stamp sets, and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I did the embossing after I let the watercolors dry. Then I stamped the sentiment on some vellum, embossed it with white powder, and created a "belly band" around the card front. I like to use vellum because it doesn't cover up any of the pretty images underneath.

So that's it. Now let me see your all-time favorite kind of card, be it a technique, color, layout, or whatever else you may love. And for the winner of this week's challenge, I'll send you a grab bag with some fun paper crafting stuff.

Ok, here are the rules:

-Please create a new card/project for each challenge.

-You may use any vendors/products.

-The host/hostess will choose 3 winners.

-All 3 cards will be pinned to our Mod Squad Challenge Blog Pinterest Board (follow the link on the right column) and when there is a craft prize the host/hostess will choose one from among those 3 winning cards. The winners will be announced in a separate post that will go up on Tuesdays before the next challenge post goes up. Any winners of craft prizes have 1 week to respond to claim the prize. Prizes that are unclaimed will be offered again on another challenge.

-Our challenges may be combined with up to 4 other challenges, so to be eligible for any prizes and Pinning you can have a total of 5 challenges you've entered. We rely on the honor system so please be honest.
I can't wait to see what you come up with - I know it will be hard to choose a winner!!!

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

Hi everyone!  It was a quiet week for entries since I put up the post late, but, WOW, you all made some beautiful cards!  Here's just a few...

First is Lisa's card - I really like how clean and classy her layers are, and the wooden button fits in so well with her theme.

Next we have Dawn S. with this bright and fun design...  I like how she pulled the circle shape from the button into the rest of her design with the enamel dots.

Finally, our winner this week is Theresa with this adorable card.  She used the button as a wheel for her wheelbarrow.  TOO cute!!

Theresa, if you'll email me at thestampersstitches at gmail.com and give me your mailing address I'll put some goodies in the mail to you!

Thanks so much for playing everyone!  We'll be back tomorrow with a new challenge!!
