Hi friends!  Thanks so much for playing along with my Coastal Inspiration challenge!  Living so far away from the beach, it was a treat to see so many coastal creations!  :-)

There were so many beautiful entries, but here are just a few of our favorites...

This beauty from Donna from Crafting By the Beach really caught my eye!  Just look at that fabulous cluster of shells and that gorgeous glitter!  Mmmm mmmmm!

I loved this card by Sylvia from Cards, Cookies, & Carrot Cake!  The sea shell wreath is just brilliant!

Dee's Mod Squad Challenge - Coastal inspiration

Isn't this such a lovely scene that Dee created?  I love the shiny bottle!  :-)

Isn't her card gorgeous?  I love the accordion style as well as the amazing texture she added!

Hi there!  I'm so excited about this week's challenge!  I don't know about you, but everywhere I look, I see beach or coastal decor!  It is everywhere!  And not just decor, this trend has made its way into the fashion world as well!  You even see more coastal inspired food around as well!

One thing that I have noticed about this new trend is that it has gotten a fresh new look!  The colors are not just limited to blue and red anymore!  In fact, the colors vary so much - from blues and aquas, to sand hues and yellows.  So much inspiration!

My challenge to you is to create a project inspired by this new fascination with all things coastal!  If you are needing ideas or inspiration, just search Pintrest for Coastal Decor...you will be amazed by all of the soothing colors and textures!

For my card, I was inspired by many different coastal aspects.  The compass rose image (stamps are from the Here Comes the Sun StampTV Kit) is perfect for this challenge!  For the background, I started with a white piece of cardstock and swiped several ink pads (I used Gina K Color Companions ink pads) across it, trying to blend them a little as I went.  I tried not to give it a completely solid look, and am very pleased with the bits of white showing through!  For the vellum layer, I had in mind the lovely tiles seen in many older coastal cities and tried to replicate that with my embossing folder.

Here's a photo of the StampTV Kit "Here Comes the Sun"...

What a gallery full of paper pieced goodness you gave me to look through!  Thank you!!!  I narrowed it down to ten to start with, but I figured I'd better get a little closer to the 3 I was supposed to choose, so I went with four... : )

First is this fun card by Myrna - Isn't this frog adorable in his paper pieced Hawaiian shirt???

Next is this easy to mail card by Lisa.  I love the clean lines!!

Hi everyone!  Welcome to this week's Mod Squad challenge!   My challenge for you today uses one of my favorite techniques... which means it is REALLY easy, because I usually avoid technique challenges completely!! : )  Here's my card... let's see if you can figure out the challenge...

YES!  Paper Piecing!
If you're not sure what that is, there is a fantastic video on StampTV HERE - and you'll even have one of Gina's adorable cards to CASE if you watch it!!

I used some bright and cheery designer paper from two different Gina K paper packs - Birthday Hoot and Here Comes the Sun - for my background layer.  I stamped the butterfly from the Don't Lose Hope Stamp Set Duo onto a white Vintage Cuts oval, then paper pieced the wings with a scrap of Here Comes the Sun paper.  I layered my oval onto a Vintage Cuts Scalloped Oval from the Fancy Frames pack and attached it to my project with pop dots.  The little "flight path" is actually a stamp from the adorable Autumn Blessings mini set.

So... your mission for this week is to

Use Paper Piecing on your card.

I can't wait to see what you come up with!

OH!  And it is PRIZE WEEK!

The winner of this week's challenge will receive a $50 Gina K gift certificate!  WooHoo!
